Bertelsmann Foundation Improves SharePoint with Picturepark

Germany’s largest non-profit foundation provides SharePoint users with Picturepark digital asset management and search capabilities

Aarau, Switzerland – 25 March 2014 – Digital asset management (DAM) software maker Picturepark has released a new case study that describes how Bertelsmann Stiftung (Foundation) leverages Picturepark DAM software to increase the DAM-related services available to its SharePoint users.

In addition to replacing an aging DAM system with a more modern alternative, Bertelsmann Stiftung needed to be able to provide access to the DAM from within SharePoint. IT Project Coordinator, Björn Brockschmidt, liked what Picturepark offered in that regard.

“Picturepark works well inside SharePoint and this was most important for us,” Brockschmidt said. “Because it is so simple for users, we didn’t need to offer any training. It is all self-explanatory.”

“Bertelsmann Stiftung is among a growing number of SharePoint-using organizations that have discovered they cannot fulfill all their digital asset management goals using SharePoint alone,” said Picturepark CEO, Ramon Forster. “By providing Picturepark access from within SharePoint, these organizations gain digital asset management and search operations that extend beyond the Microsoft Office-centric services for which SharePoint was designed.”

SharePoint and Picturepark were built upon the same .NET software architecture, so Picturepark developers were able to provide an “out of the box” integration that provides capabilities that surpass those available with many other DAM integrations for SharePoint.
